Demand for Cambodian Pilots

According to Boeing, the Asia-Pacific region will need an additional 244,000 pilots to meet the growth projections and current aircraft orders. That means that on average the airlines in the region expect to hire approximately 12,200 pilots per year.

To further highlight the growth potential of the airlines in Cambodia, the Gross Domestic Product Per Capita can be used as an indicator of growth, as proven in other developing countries in Asia. In China – presently the second largest aviation market in the world – GDP Per Capita doubled between 1995 and 2004. Cambodia’s GDP per capita has more than doubled over the past 10 years as of 2019, following a similar trajectory and implying that more citizens will have the funds to travel and that growth of the airlines will follow.

Cambodia Pilot Demand GDP

Presently, less than 50 of the pilots in Cambodia are Cambodian nationals and instead the airlines are forced to hire internationally due to lack of domestically trained pilots. There has never been a better time to join an exciting career opportunity that will soar you to new adventures.

Cambodia Pilot Career Path

After completion of flight training, and gaining employment with an airline, you would be hired in a position called First Officer. After flying for the company for several years you will meet the qualifications to be a Captain. It will require additional testing to qualify, but the average airline captain in Asia makes between US$5,000 (20,275,000 KHR) and US$20,000 (81,100,000 KHR) per month income.
