 |  Blog

There can be pressure from family, friends, and professors on your career after high school. Some may say you need to attend a 4 year college; others may say work for a few years, and others may just tell you to do what you find the best for your own future! Deciding the career you want to take for the rest of your life at the age of 18 can be difficult. We understand – we’ve been in your shoes before. If you have ever been interested in aviation, then moving from high school to flight school may be the best option for you!

Airline pilots operate vehicles to transport goods and people. There are many different careers you can take when becoming a pilot, but at AeroGuard we train you to take on the big leagues. Our partnership with SkyWest Airlines allows you to have a SkyWest mentor and a guaranteed final interview to fly for SkyWest. Let us explain more as to why AeroGuard is the right choice for you!

Going from High School to Flight School

We understand just how difficult and intimidating it can be when you are finishing high school and deciding on a career path that’s right for you. You may be questioning if a 4-year program is best, or a 2-year program, or maybe even going into a trade. During all of these questions, if at any point you want to travel the world in your career and see new places, learn new cultures, then flight school might be the right choice for you!

This is a career path perfect for those with adventure coursing through their veins. While this can be a demanding and stressful job, we train you to prepare for almost all conditions you may encounter while flying. As you train to become a pilot you will learn that there are certain skills that are required for the job. These skills include communicating well with others even in stressful times, listening, and speaking well. As a pilot you will also learn to quickly problem solve and use critical thinking to evaluate any situation that may arise.

Depending on the level of aviation you want to go into there are different requirements. Throughout your training there are certain certifications and flight hours that need to be achieved in order to move on to be a commercial pilot or working for a regional airline such as SkyWest.
